Donations & Legacies
The Forces Pension Society is an independent not-for-profit organisation. It is reliant on membership subscriptions, donations and legacies to fund its work. It receives no grants and it does not distribute any income in dividends.
This independence is vital in carrying out the activities of the Society whose principal aim is to protect and enhance the pension entitlements of serving and ex-serving members of all ranks in all three Services and their dependants.
Whether helping to resolve the hundreds of pension queries our Pension Helpline receives every month, striving to correct injustices in the existing pension schemes or campaigning for improved pensions, there is constant pressure on the Society’s resources. That’s why your donation or legacy is so vital to our work. It will also help to fund the growing level of support we provide to veterans in care with such charities as the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation.
You can help us now by contributing to the Forces Pension Society Charitable Fund. Donations and Legacies given to FPSCF are a tax-efficient way of supporting our work, for which we thank you most sincerely.

Legacies
Legacies form an important part of charitable giving. Please consider helping by making a donation to the Forces Pension Society Charitable Fund. No matter how small or large, a bequest will help to secure and develop the support that the Forces Pension Society is able to give to current and future generations of Servicemen and women.
All that needs to happen is the inclusion of a simple clause in your will leaving a bequest to the Forces Pension Society Charitable Fund.
If you have an existing Will, you can simply add a Codicil to it but it is usually safer, and not much more expensive, to rewrite your will incorporating the bequest and any other changes that may be necessary as a result of the passage of time. If you don’t have a Will, then now might be the time to get one in place, incorporating the appropriate clause.
Our Affinity Partner, Steele Rose & Co (tel: 0800 0352 781 and at www.steelerose.co.uk) is ready to help with free telephone advice for FPS Members (please quote FPS 881) or they can arrange for your Will to be drafted or re-drafted as fits the case. Steele Rose Consultants are nearly all retired Officers.
There are three types of Legacy:
- Pecuniary – which is where you specify an exact amount of money
- Residuary – the residue or part of the residue of your estate after all other debts and expenses have been paid
- Specific – which is a named item such as a piece of land or property
Next Steps
Please consult Steele Rose & Co or your professional advisor and if you decide to leave us a gift in your Will, do please let us know.
Your legacy should be left to the Forces Pension Society Charitable Fund (Charity No. 264524) and your estate will benefit, where appropriate, from a reduction in Inheritance Tax which might be payable.
In addition, as a result of recent changes, as from 5th April 2012, if you leave 10% or more of your estate to charity, the rest of your estate will benefit from a 10% reduction in Inheritance Tax that would otherwise be payable.
Once again, we thank you for your kindness and generosity and we will put your gift to good use in the interests of the Armed Forces and their Families.
