Anual events

Annual General Meeting

Held in central London each year and attended by members and invited guests, the AGM gives the Chairman the opportunity to tell members what the Society has been doing during the past year and what its aims are for the coming year.

The AGM also takes the statutory business e.g. Report & Accounts and election of council members. It is also an occasion when members can discuss matters face to face with Council members and the executive.

Area meeting programme

There is a voluntary Area Chairman for members living in different areas of the country and each one holds an area meeting annually, which the General Secretary or other member of the executive staff attend and provide an update on the Society's business.

Don't miss this opportunity to meet other members of the Society, enjoy an enlightening afternoon and also hear first hand about what the Society has been up to on your behalf. Also, it’s your chance to tell us what else we can do for you!

Parliamentary Luncheon

This is an important opportunity to influence opinion formers. Held in the House of Lords in late Autumn by kind permission of a member of the Lords who is also one of our Vice Presidents, this occasion gives our President, Vice Presidents, Chairman and Council the opportunity to influence people who are important in the work of the Society.

The invited guests include the Veterans Minister, other ministers from the MOD, senior MOD officials, senior officers from all three Services, several members of both Houses of Parliament who have an interest in matters relating to the Armed Forces, senior representatives of the media, and other significant stakeholders.

The President's speech is always an important message from the Society to the legislature. If you’d like to read the last speech, please click here ¼

Armed Forces Day

The Society sees the annual Armed Forces Day as an important date in its calendar and takes an active part in the event, this years main event will be held in Cardiff on Saturday 26 June, see www.armedforcesday.org.uk for details. We generally have a stand at both the national event and the London event each year, where we promote the Society and its work.  If you have any suggestions of how we could also be involved at a regional level, please click here to send them to us.

New ideas

Tell us your ideas for further events for members, whether it’s a trip to a battlefield, a social get together, a visit to an Armed Forces base with a tour provided – we want your ideas, we’ll publicise them on the website and if we get a decent response we’ll set about organising the event.
